A review of statistical surveys from the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery reveals a staggering 8.5 million cosmetic surgical and non-surgical procedures performed in 2001 in the United States. Women accounted for 7.4 million of the cosmetic procedures, or 88% of the total and men accounted for the remaining 12%. It must be noted however, that the number of cosmetic procedures performed on men increased 256% from 1997-2001, which means that men are now slowly becoming just as conscious of their appearance as women are.
In a recent conversation of this author with a physician from India, Dr. Vandana Bulchandani says that, “even in India there is now such a big demand for cosmetic procedures. This boom is borne of the fact that having these procedures is now publicly acceptable. The effect of mass media, specially our Bollywood movies, where beauty and glamour are highlighted, has induced many men and women in India to resort to these cosmetic procedures to attain beauty and youthfulness.”
So from Hollywood …to Bollywood …and to Manila as well, this trend towards increasing patronage of cosmetic procedures is something that is forecasted to be a “big business industry” for at least the next 10 years. At the forefront of this trend in the Philippines is BH 6750 Multi-Specialty Aesthetic Institute (a registered brand of Beverly Hills 6750 CSSI Corporation). In order to “lead the pack” in the industry, BH 6750 features the fusion of high technology and world-class infrastructure with high-caliber medical professionals and staff.
Oftentimes, when we speak of high technology in this business, we think of lasers and other energy producing machines that provide bloodless and relatively pain-free treatments. We owe it to Ms. Oprah Winfrey for introducing Thermage (a patented radio-frequency technology) to the public consciousness in 2003 as a “lunch-time facelift” and championing it on her talk show in episodes with names like "How to Stop the Clock on Aging", "Look Younger! Live Longer!" and "Look 10 Years Younger in 10 Days".
Now, BH 6750 is introducing “The Ultimate Face Tightening Procedure”. This is a combination of Thermage treatment, followed 2 weeks later by Syneron E-Max’s (radio-frequency with diode laser technology) skin tightening protocol. This combination of two technologies, has shown superior results compared to when the treatments are done individually.
Among the other hot offerings of Beverly Hills 6750 is the Fraxel SR Laser (Reliant) procedure for skin re-surfacing. It is the first and only dermatological laser system to employ laser fractional re-surfacing as an approach to non-ablative skin rejuvenation of the face, neck, chest and hands. It is a safe, time-efficient procedure used for uneven pigmentation, melasma, age and sun spots, skin re-surfacing and wrinkle reduction, acne scars and striae.
Hair reduction is perhaps the most in-demand cosmetic laser procedure. Using elos technology, the combination of radio-frequency and diode laser in the Comet Laser (Syneron) provides optimal hair reduction of all hair colors on all skin types, including tanned skin. Marked hair reduction is seen after 3 sessions, although some patients may require 4 - 6 sessions. The most requested sites for hair reduction treatment include the upper lips, sideburns, armpits and legs.
A relatively new technology that is predicted to replace microdermabrasion, one of the most popular cosmetic office procedures, is BH 6750’s Hydroxygen Jet Peel Facial Rejuvenation. This procedure uses a stream of pure oxygen in a continuous supersonic flow delivery with simultaneous delivery of high velocity micro-droplets of saline solution that contains Vitamin C and proprietary serum, resulting in skin exfoliation and moisturization. “The results are fabulous!” says a happy client. Although typically used as a superficial skin treatment, a deeper skin peeling can also be achieved, especially for peri-oral wrinkles and crow’s feet wrinkles.
