Peripheral vascular laser surgery

Beverly Hills 6750 Multi-Specialty Aesthetic Institute now introduces its comprehensive approach to the treatment of varicose veins and the pioneering use of the BH Veno-Laser Procedure to address problematic varicose veins — generally appearing as twisting, bulging rope-like cords on the legs, anywhere from the groin to the ankle.

It all starts with a vascular ultrasound to assess the valve competence of the larger veins. It’s important to understand that if the valves are incompetent, no amount of superficial treatments (e.g. sclerotherapy, laser pencil treatments) will provide a long-lasting solution to varicose veins. In this situation, what is required is a technique of obliterating the segment of veins with valve incompetence. Traditionally, this was done surgically — the so-called “vein-stripping” that resulted in multiple disfiguring skin incisions along the course of the vein.

The BH Veno-Laser Procedure is a technique where a laser fiber is inserted via a needle puncture inside the vein — the so-called endovenous approach — and laser energy is fired along and inside the varicose vein. The energy from the laser damages the vein walls, shrinking them closed to prevent blood from flowing through. This technique is also called Endovenous Laser Treatment (ELVT).

Research shows a success rate of 93%-98% in individuals undergoing this endovenous laser treatment (based on clinical data with up to five years of follow-up). This is much higher than the alternative treatments, including: injection sclerotherapy, radiofrequency, and surgical ligation and stripping. Due to its increased efficacy and lower morbidity, many consider endovenous laser treatment as the new “gold standard” in varicose vein treatment.

Like all other minimally invasive procedures, the BH Veno-Laser Procedure can potentially result in some minor bruising, which usually goes away during the first several weeks. Pateints will feel a “pulling” sensation as well as delayed tightness about 4 to 7 days after the varicose vein treatment procedure is completed. These side effects are normal and are expected after a successful treatment procedure.
